Currently resides: Baltimore, Md.
Education: A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I studied international public relations and journalism. I also competed as a Division 1 athlete in cross-country.
Job responsibilities: I support the implementation of Tenable’s global PR program. I work with my team to consistently drive corporate brand awareness and executive thought leadership among key audiences through targeted media relations campaigns. Prior to joining Tenable, I was an Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellow with FleishmanHillard.
Why PR?: I have a passion for writing and reading. I knew early on that I wanted to help change the world through way of the written (and sometimes spoken) word, which drove me to pursue a career in PR.
Why PRSA?: Having recently relocated to Maryland, I wanted to continue to be a part of the PRSA family, just as I was in Charlotte. I believe we should never stop learning and improving. PRSA-Maryland is an excellent resource to help me continue along my professional path. I am able to connect with local professionals and learn from their deep bench of expertise and experience.
Role model: John Green. Not only is he one of my favorite authors, but he also dedicates his time to eradicating social misconstructions and biases through his YouTube vlog channel. His passion, earnest interest in others and literary talent are admirable and I hope to inspire others some day in the same way he inspires me and so many others who believe in his mission.
Passions/interests/hobbies: Running, reading and writing. I am currently working on a novel that I’d like to have published one day.
Best piece of advice received: I was brought up under the mantra that “nothing is for free,” and I think I am a better person because of that. When we work for something, our success is much more satisfying because we’ve invested in the cause. We’ve poured hours of our time into achieving some goal, and it’s a valuable life lesson to learn. We cannot expect to influence and inspire others, if we cannot first influence and inspire ourselves.
