Welcome to 2020 and all it promises you professionally and personally. I am honored to be continuing in the role as chapter president and plan to make great strides this year with another strong board of directors. (Meet them here.)
While we have much membership data from our past events and surveys, tell me more about what you want from our chapter this year. I want an engaged membership, and that includes programming that interests you, as well as your time and talent to assist with the chapter. Can you take on some tasks in our communications, event logistics, or recruitment and onboarding of new members?
The benefits of engagement are limitless. It not only provides you with a network of professionals on whom you can call in crisis or in celebration, but also hones your skills and sometimes, moves you out of your comfort zone to become more confident or learn something new. We work hard and enjoy our time together (both virtually and face-to-face), while advancing the profession. What more could you want?!
I have met some incredible professionals as well as clients in my 25+ years as a PRSA member and volunteer in various chapters. Better yet, many of those people have become confidants and friends. I look forward to spending more time with you in 2020! Have a comment? Reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lisa Brusio Coster
PRSA MD President
It has been my privilege to serve as president of PRSA Maryland Chapter for the past two years. This honor has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’ve enjoyed working with the board of directors and chapter volunteers to better serve our members’ needs.
Together, we have expanded our professional and networking programs, increased member engagement, strengthened our connections with area PRSSA chapters, increased membership, and attracted a record-number of APR candidates; nine of whom are scheduled to sit for the APR exam in 2019.
Additionally, I have witnessed numerous members take their next steps in their careers by tapping into our network. It’s what I call channeling the “Power of PRSA.”
While I’ve enjoyed leading the chapter in 2017 and 2018, it’s time to hand over the reins. I’m pleased to announce that the 2019 president of PRSA Maryland Chapter will be Lisa Brusio Coster, president of Coster Communications, Ltd.
I know Lisa will continue to build on our successes and lead our chapter to new heights.
Thank you PRSA Maryland Chapter members, sponsors, and volunteers for supporting me and the board of directors for the past two years. I hope you will continue to lend us your support in 2019. Together we will unify, strengthen, and advance the public relations/communication profession and professional.
