The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a media contact for the newly created Independent Investigations Division, which is responsible for investigating all officer-involved fatalities across the state.
This position will assist in managing news conferences and provide direction and guidance to the in-house multimedia director on public documents and website strategy. The position will also be tasked with developing office-wide communications strategies, messaging on the office's public facing website, social media pages, and press releases/media advisories for distribution to the public. Additional duties include assisting the Director of Communications in reaching out to local, regional, national and international media outlets, as well as responding to media inquiries, issues and incidents as they arise. This position will be expected to respond to crime scenes across the state on an on-call basis, including after hours and weekends.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience and/or strong familiarity with law-enforcement operations or protocol and criminal investigations. Candidates should have prior experience managing social media accounts and communicating over social media. The candidate should have the ability to effectively communicate on camera and have prior on-camera work experience.
